A Story Lost to Time
On October 5, 1931, Clyde Pangborn, accompanied by co-pilot Hugh Herndon, piloted the first trans-Pacific flight, flying from Misawa, Japan to East Wenatchee, Washington in their Bellanca airplane, Miss Veedol. The story of this historic flight was predominantly lost to time. Even so, a significant connection has since blossomed between the communities of Wenatchee and Misawa, Japan, the official sister-city of East Wenatchee.
Why This Story Matters To Us
As filmmakers, storytellers, and community members of the Wenatchee Valley, we are inspired to further explore the evolving relationship between Misawa and Wenatchee and share the story of Miss Veedol with the world. In doing so, we hope to foster community growth, inspire individuals to dream bigger about their role in the global community, incite community pride, and build connection.
The Legacy Project sets out to capture the stories of living legacies in the Wenatchee Valley. We aim to tell stories from every corner of our diverse community. We believe everyone leaves a legacy, some a little more public than others, but everyone affects someone, and everyone has a story to tell.
If your loved one lives in the greater Wenatchee Valley area, we would be honored to meet them, and bring the essence of their story to life on video. The We Are Wenatchee platform is the humble beginning of a virtual stage to showcase these special stories. Consider giving your loved one the gift of preserving their stories. This gift starts out as something for them, but over time it will become a gift your whole family will treasure for generations.
